Meedio is almost here!
Tomorrow morning, the much anticipated release of myHTPC's successor, Meedio, is being released. I've been using myHTPC as the front-end for my home theater PC for many months, and I love it. All of my movies, music and photos are available on my TV at a click of a remote. I've nearly maxxed out my 250gb drive with a huge collection of media. myHTPC has been (and will remain) a freeware front-end with a very supportive community. But now, it's moving into the commercial world. Meedio appears to be even more powerful, expandable, and feature-rich than its predecessor. A review of this new application was just posted on HTPCnews.com. My hope is that the WAF (wife acceptance factor) is much higher than myHTPC. Amy wasn't too keen on me removing our VCR and DVD player, and replacing them with a computer. She's picking it up pretty quickly, though. She particularly likes the fact that she can time-shift TV shows (ala Tivo), and watch them when she wants. A pause button is your friend when you have a two-year old in the house!
Of course, with us trying to get ready for our move over the next two weeks, I'm probably not going to have time to set this up right away. However, it's something to look forward to after we get settled in our new house.
